The ICE raids and deportation efforts are having a chilling effect, with people bracing against potential violence and human rights violations.8 The White House has already begun flying detained people to Guantanamo Bay—a military base that has been fraught with allegations of torture and abuse.9 And as more and more stories come out about the "chilling" raids, immigrant children and families are being driven into hiding.10 Since the raids began, Lupita, a 12-year-old U.S. citizen with undocumented parents, has been living in fear that her parents may not be there when she gets home from school. Hundreds of thousands of U.S.-born children like Lupita are waking up every day not knowing if their families will be torn apart.11 Reports of empty schools and workplaces are circulating as more people avoid day-to-day activities out of fear.12 Children, families, and entire communities will be reckoning with the ramifications of Trump's deportation machine for decades to come. Washington Governor Bob Ferguson signed an executive order last week creating the Family Separation Rapid Response Team, to bring together stakeholders from across the state to coordinate and prepare for mass deportations.13 And school administrators in Chicago have stepped up to resist Trump's mass deportation directives—reiterating that ICE is not permitted to access their schools without certain credentials and a warrant, and committing to uphold their sanctuary city laws despite Trump's executive orders.14 These efforts are an example of the kind of leadership we need in order to protect those who are most vulnerable in our communities. But we also need a united front across state lines to prevent Trump's cruel detention and deportation efforts. In a 6-3 decision on Friday, the MAGA-packed Supreme Court took away even more guardrails of our democracy and handed Donald Trump unprecedented new power, ruling that Trump could move forward with his executive order striking down birthright citizenship—despite this right being protected by the 14th Amendment for over 150 years.1 And the implications are sweeping for other Trump executive actions as well. The high court today made it much, much harder to block illegal Trump orders. Trump and his cronies cheered. On the same day, the MAGA Supreme Court ruled that school systems can discriminate against LGBTQ+ people and students by allowing parents to "opt-out" their children from materials that feature LGBTQ+ characters.2 These decisions are not isolated incidents—they represent a coordinated right-wing assault on immigrant rights, LGBTQ+ rights, our democratic principles, and the rule of law. URGENT: Trump won at SCOTUS, but Congress can still block him

William, this ruling opens the door to one of the most dangerous rollbacks of civil rights in modern U.S. history. By allowing Trump's executive order to end birthright citizenship to be decided by the federal courts in select parts of the country, SCOTUS has greenlit creating a two-tiered system of citizenship. But it doesn't have to end here. Ultimately, federal courts will have to rule on birthright citizenship, and if they rule to overturn it, it will be up to Congress to block these unconstitutional grabs at our rights. They are trying their best to ram through this legislation that would steal health care and food assistance away from millions and give handouts to the wealthy, all so Trump can sign it into law before July 4th. Over the last few days, Senate Republicans have faced several setbacks to their proposed cuts: The Senate parliamentarian has ruled that some of the cuts cannot be passed through reconciliation,1 Several GOP Senators have gone on record with concerns about the Medicaid cuts as they stand,2 And voters are saying they disapprove of the Republican budget by massive margins in multiple recent polls.3 Our stories, our voices, and our work to keep the pressure on Congress are all having an impact. 7 days to save Medicaid

No one can afford to rest until this bill is soundly defeated—and we have only seven days.

Dear MoveOn member, "Lock yourself in a room if you must, don't go home, and GET THE DEAL DONE THIS WEEK," Donald Trump posted about his billionaire-backed, awful budget bill yesterday. "NO ONE GOES ON VACATION UNTIL IT'S DONE."1 Well, guess what, Trump? MoveOn isn't going on vacation, either. Trump's billionaire-backed budget bill, as it stands, would rip health care away from 16 million people.2 Families could face as much as $22,800 in new medical debt.3 And the bill is estimated to cause 51,000 preventable deaths next year.4 With that at risk, this is an all-hands-on-deck moment. No one can afford to rest until this bill is soundly defeated—and we have only seven days. MoveOn is working around the clock to mobilize millions of people to defeat Trump's terrible budget bill. First, despite how unpopular the bill's policies are, a staggering two-thirds of voters have "heard little or nothing at all" about the budget bill and what's actually in it.11 And second, Trump has set a July 4 deadline for this bill to get to his desk. It's the crown jewel of his administration, and Trump and his billionaire buddies are going to do whatever it takes to pass their gift to the ultra wealthy. William, we have no time to lose. The American people want health care, not warfare. Tell Congress: Keep the U.S. out of forever wars! Dear MoveOn member, President Trump bombed three locations in Iran on Saturday—without any authorization from Congress.1 The reckless attack escalated existing tensions and put countless lives at risk. It's clear: Trump is a danger to our national security, and we have to intervene now, before he ensnares the U.S. in yet another forever war. Americans overwhelmingly oppose the U.S. getting involved in a war with Iran.2 The U.S. government should work to deescalate the crisis, prevent a full-blown war, and not escalate tensions that put our national security at risk. Now, there's a tentative ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran.3 We welcome a ceasefire, but we must remain vigilant. Trump's unpredictability means we can leave nothing up to chance. Both the House and the Senate have introduced resolutions to limit further military action without congressional approval. The War Powers Resolution, introduced by Representatives Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna, has bipartisan support and would guarantee a vote in the House.
