Dear MoveOn member,
Newly released data shows that more than 10 million people will lose their health care coverage because of the devastating Medicaid cuts in Donald Trump's terrible budget bill.1 But we have a big problem: Millions of the people who will be impacted don't realize they are at risk, because they do not know that their health care coverage is provided by Medicaid.2
The reason why is simple: In 31 states, Medicaid plans are not actually called "Medicaid."3 States have rebranded their Medicaid programs with names like "Medi-Cal," "Health First Colorado," "Cardinal Care," and more. And the Republicans in Congress who voted to rip health care away from their constituents in order to give trillions of dollars in tax cuts to the ultra wealthy are desperately hoping that, because of those differences in names, the people in their districts won't realize what they did.
We're going to make sure that they do.
That is why MoveOn is launching a new billboard campaign in some of the most important swing districts across the country to make sure voters know exactly what their Republican members of Congress voted for. For each billboard, we use the name of the state Medicaid plan and indicate exactly how many people in the state will be impacted. They look like this:
We need your help to get these billboards up and keep them up as long as possible, William. Can you start a monthly donation of $5 to help power these billboards and fuel our efforts to flip the House in 2026?
Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
MoveOn's team has done the research to ensure that we are using these billboards as strategically as possible.
We've selected five districts in Colorado, Virginia, Nebraska, Arizona, and California where either the Republican representatives won by extremely slim margins or Kamala Harris won in 2024. Our research predicts that these are the seats that are most likely to flip next year, which is why we are investing early to build the organizing power we will need to defeat these representatives in the midterms.
Remember: We need to flip just three seats in order to win control of the House and put a real check on Trump's corruption and abuses of power.
These billboards are just the beginning. Next month, MoveOn is also hitting the road with Senators Elizabeth Warren and Chris Murphy, as well as Representatives Jasmine Crockett, Maxwell Frost, and Yassamin Ansari to some of these same swing districts to host huge rallies and give support to local communities as they begin to organize on the ground.
We are also beginning to test new, innovative tactics to persuade and turn out voters that we will scale up next year to usher in a massive blue wave.
But unlike the representatives in our target districts who are backed by billionaire donors and special interests, our funding comes from members like you giving what they can, when they can.
Will you start a $5 monthly donation to help us get our billboards up, keep them up as long as we can, and fuel the organizing we will need to flip the House next year?
Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
Thanks for all you do.
